“The Bank of Spain is the central bank of Spain. Founded in Madrid in 1782 by King Charles III, today the bank is a member of the Eurosystem and the European System of Central Banks. It is the competent national authority of Spain for banking supervision within the Single Supervisory Mechanism. Its activity is regulated by the Law of Autonomy of the Bank of Spain of 1994. Its main headquarters, built between 1884 and 1891, is located in Madrid. On June 2, 1872, through a royal decree signed by King Carlos III, the Banco Nacional de San Carlos was founded, which issued the first Spanish banknotes, called cédulas del Banco de San Carlos….”

The date in bold 1872 must be 1782.
