Possible banknote cutting error [solved]

Discussion about Spain • 1000 Pesetas

Hello everyone.

I recently bought some old Spanish banknotes.
I took a closer look at my acquisitions and noticed that one of the banknotes, the 1000 pesetas from 1928, seems to have a small cutting error.

You can see in the bottom left-hand corner the marked borders, which normally shouldn't show, as it should be cut by those marks.

I'd like you to tell me if it's a cutting error or something else, and, if it's a simple cutting error, if it's rare or not to see one with this problem, and if it's more or less valuable because of it.

I'd like your opinion, please.
Best regards from Portugal

I would consider these lines printer's guides.  They're common to see & the minor deviation is well within QC tolerances.

Generally speaking, the older the series the more one sees things like these “guides” & poorly centred notes.  The note in question is actually pretty well-centred considering the guides are showing -so that's a good thing.  This would in no way be considered a cutting error (not close to being dramatic enough).

All “errors” should be very dramatic or they are considered “poorly produced” (by graders) &  undesirable to many collectors (who seek perfection).  I like notes like the one pictured, but not all collectors do.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the answer.

I was thinking the same thing, and thank you for clarifying  my question :)
