I have the 1942 edition of this 5 Pounds and I do not know how to assess the quality as it is a used banknote Not in pristine condition.

Since I am new here, I do not know if I can insert an image of my coin for it to be assessed. and I don't see the value of it since it's in 1942 edition and I did not find any 1942 on the. site.

I'm not good at banknote grading but if it were mine I would probably put it as VG.

You should send images of your note to the catalogue referee and request the addition of a line for 1942.

Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

I would consider this note to be in Good (G) condition, as per the IBNS: https://www.theibns.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4&Itemid=25&limitstart=7 .

A great part about Numista is that it is collaborative and any additions are welcome! Here is how you request the addition of a year line:

Click the edit button.
Scroll down to the “Varieties” section and fill in the information you have about your variant.

Be sure to add in your sources before submitting. In this case, I would say “Personal collection.” and add a photo of the entire obverse. Referencing this forum would help as well.

After your addition has been verified, you can upload the photos you took by registering an example at the bottom of the note’s page!

I hope this helps!

Thank you so much, highly appreciate your efforts and input.

If you could change your title to 1942 Egypt 5 Pounds WASHED rather than “used” you may help others learn why washing (& processing) banknotes is a terrible endeavour. The doctoring is not only wasted time but also has degraded the note considerably.  Your example was likely VG to Fine (with issues) but the washing (which removed soiling) has drastically reduced the vivid elements of the design.
