You can do these things for yourself if you tried. Compare it to a certified genuine example: What do you think? How would you grade it and what value would you assign to it?

N#12800

What are you willing to pay for it?

Well I would think it’s genuine, I just need a few more opinions as 1899 is a rare date and there are examples of counterfeits out there, I’m paying about 70 dollars for it

I agree, appears to be genuine, weighs right and the diameter is right. So far so good. But what about the edge lettering. LXII or LVIII? There are differences in value and also useful as a tool to authenticate it. The seller did not mention that and you did not ask about that detail. Also, the grade of this example is not the best. Look at all the wear and loss of detail compared to a high high quality example.  Grade? I would say Fine at best but even at Very Fine Numista estimates the value at  roughly $49 for the LXII variety. It's a personal decision but do you really think this coin is worth $70 based on what we know and don't know about this coin? You do not even have all the  information about this example to make the right decision. I do not and think at this point you should even consider purchasing this example until then. I also think you can find a better example if you shop around with all the information needed to make an informed decision.

I’ve already bargained before and my $70 was based on the price given by the seller, well this crown would be my 2nd one, I’m still a newbie at collecting British silvers so I would still need some help, thanks for the reply 🙏

I would be willing to pay £30 to £40 depending on variety. Seems genuine. What dollars are you using? American probably too much but Australian I think that would be about right price wise. Hope that helps :)

Oh I’m using SGD

Oh I’m using SGD

$52 U.S. That is an entirely different matter. Much more affordable than the implied $70 U.S. so it is not as overpriced as I thought you were willing to pay.

Oh, ok haha

Agreed I think 1 SGD is about 50p so works out good to me :)
