1 Euro Coin missing stars?

7 posts • viewed 202 times

I have a 2002-F 1 Euro coin where the bottom stars are basically not there. You can see the shapes of them but the area is completely flat. Also from all angles it appears the bottom lines are non-existent. Could this really just be wear and tear or is it possibly a minting error? Thank you!

Can we have some more information about the coin please.

What country is it? What date?

Really! That is so interesting. I can understand that for the stars since you can at least see the outlines, but for the lines that are supposed to be under the stars there is no trace. It seemed odd as well because the lines over the flat stars are still quite sharp. How can I learn to identify it myself for future coins?

Hello! Yes of course, it is a coin from Germany, 2002 F. Here is a picture of the other side.

2002-F can only be Germany.

It looks like wear to me. My opinion, nothing scientific about it except I can't imagine that large a striking difference from the top to the bottom.
