Dear all,

I noticed the Republic of Florence is used as an issuer for the period 1533-1826 (Lira currency) for only 1 coin: N#119333. I think this is a mistake and it should be transfered to be housed under the Grand Duchy of Tuscany (1533-1826; Lira currency) as the proper issuer because the Grand Duchy of Tuscany is the successor state of the Republic of Florence from 1533 onwards (as also already mentioned on Numista). The Republic of Florence should therefore be deleted as an issuer after 1533. I suppose this is an old entry that was never updated. Could this please be fixed?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Gerebernus

It is a little messy, but I think the political history goes like this:

Republic of Florence - to 1532

Republic/Duchy of Florence  - 1532 - 1569 (1st duke Alessandro, 2d duke Cosimo I)

Grand Duchy of Tuscany - 1569-1801 and 1814-1860

We also have the coins of Duke Alessandro under Republic of Florence:

N#307300

N#307299

N#307292

So if we move the coin you mention, we should also move the coins of Alessandro to be consistent.

@loruca and @HerveMonaco ,  what do you think?

Hello tdziema and Gerebernus

It is true that the period between the Republic of Florence and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany is a bit confusing

I totally agree to change the issuing authorities for the 4 coins mentioned by both of you.
I will take care of it

Sincerely
RVMonaco

Thanks for your replies and fixing the issue!
