Numista Japanes gold 1 ¥ coins - large type vs small type [solved]

If I compare 1 ¥ big type as found at URL:  N#144713

with 

1 ¥ small type as found at URL:  N#15184

side by side, I can't really see a difference in the type sizes, any ideas as to how I am viewing this incorrectly?

I would have expected more of a difference (visually)….

The large/small refers to the diameter. From SCWC

Pictures in SCWC are actual size. Pictures in Numista aren't actual size.
