Hi

I've just ordered and paid for my new 50p coins of the Ice Age which are available in nickel BU, nickel colour coin, gold proof, silver proof colour coin,  giant proof, giant proof coloured.  All available in singles or sets have included the links to the sets because linking to each one multiple times was going to give me nightmares. Can't find them listed in the catalogue though. Any chance of an add please?

Hello,

to add new items you can go to this page

https://en.numista.com/help/a-coin-a-banknote-or-a-piece-of-exonumia-is-missing-in-the-numista-catalogue-what-can-i-do-8.html

i think you can also go to a particular coin let say, duplicate the page, then modify accordingly based on the new specs.

Referee will then review, validate or ask for more details.

Have a good day.

Thanks for the information but these are UK Royal Mint issued items which is new currency category not exonumia, although not released for everyday usage they do have in the copper nickel variety ability to be used as standard currency.

As there would need to be agreement to utilise their photo's which I believe the forum owners have I don't have permission to use their images unless I purchased every item which I think my bank manager would lay a square egg at!

Think this is more in the area of whoever is the referee for the UK or main admin rather than myself.

you can create the page and leave the picture blank. Referee might be more aware of the rights Of pictures usage and add it later.

i did that once. As I was not able to take a picture of the coin and wasn’t sure about copyrights.

regards

I have my own forum and copyrights are a whole minefield of stuff I try my hardest to avoid at all costs. 👍 always somebody ready to jump down your throat and threaten law suits etc 🥴

These will be added shortly, however there is not a referee for UK catalogue atm so might take a while to get approved.

Thanks for the reply and the information not a problem can get on with other things 👍

Still haven't gotten to the bottom of the collection I inherited although started added new things to it, it has become a bit of an addiction this new hobby even though I said I wasn't going to become a collector seems I became a right magpie! 🤣

I spy with my little eye …. the colour version of the mammoth coin has been added to the forum :)

Many thanks to who ever added this to the catalogue I have no wish to be rude so please don't take it the wrong way this is not a negative comment but a positive thank you kindly.

There's no were to tick the BU variety and I can't figure out how to add it to the listing so have just added mine as an UNC am happy just doing that as can file mine away now 😁

Is there somewhere on forum that there are instructions how to edit a page to add a line for type to a page for type to obviously get it approved there after?

@rsirian1  tagging you as you have been of invaluable help to me since I joined

Not sure I completely understand your question but I'll take a shot.  If I completely missed the mark let me know.

This is the coin in question:  N#438807

From the link you provided (2024 Ice Age Giant Brilliant Uncirculated Colour Coin Set | The Royal Mint) it is only produced in BU finish.

If I got that right then just edit the page and add BU as a comment to the existing year line with the RM link as proof. Enter your coin as UNC since that is the only grade that's appropriate.

BU has just been added to the comment as it should have been. Also not sure if colourised is meant to be in the title of the coin?

If there is a plain version it would make sense, if all are colored it would be unnecessary.

Your right on the mark @rsirian1 I couldn't figure out how to add the BU line to the none coloured page there didn't seem to be an option for me to do it. I tried to do a page amendment but couldn't figure out how to add same year date but different “finish”.

Mine is the copper nickel BU but not coloured and obviously at some given point somebody somewhere will start dropping them into circulation I've collected a few that way when I have gotten them in my change at the shops obviously they are no long the BU finish as have been circulated.

Many thanks to everybody that has assisted I do appreciate it :)

@Idolenz there is a plain version which is what I have.

@peterjhalford I can see the BU added to the coloured version but it was on to the copper nickel version that I was trying to add it but can't figure out how to do it.

I submitted a request to add BU to the non-colored version.

That's not correct. Like you said: BU finish. It's not a grade, it's a finish. It's just like a proof coin, that's also a finish, not a grade. A proof coin ALWAYS stays a proof coin, no matter the condition. I have proof coins who are VF at most. The same for BU, although that's more difficult to understand when after a while the “Brilliance” is gone.

If it gets scratched I will cry and have a meltdown in general 😰

Am new to collecting I inherited the collection and have been adding to it instead of selling it on like I was originally intending to kind of got hooked on the pretty patterns and history links, half the time I am having trouble with the wording of trying to describe something so going off the certifications wherever I can.

Thanks for the correction 👌

I only collect the uncoloured versions which theoretically are circulating coins as they sometimes appear in your change, they are part of my collection of decimal coins started in 1968 with the first 10p and 5p coins and I have every one since issued.

WOW that's some dedication I take it there must be a lot of coins in your collection to have been going that long its what some 56 years?

I am third generation inherited … my grandma collected when she passed it went to my mum who added to the pile and she passed two years ago so I inherited it and earlier this year I decided to open the bags and tins and little cardboard boxes and try and figure out what to do with it all ….. then life just went into a whole new direction.

I obviously missed the information that BU was brilliant uncirculated still being uncirculated even though it had gone in to circulation. Means I have to go through it all again and anything that I marked as circulated though obviously (and for me being a newbie will have to be obvious!) that its BU but circulated. I just kept anything with marks or scuffs etc or that I got as "circulated" in the circulated area on my listings wherever possible. Whole new nightmare now but a good excuse to site and look at everything again so its a silver lining.

I started collecting in 1963 when I was 8
