Probably just a bad batch.
Seems so - I bought a 100 pages pack 2 yeats ago (used about 80) and didn't have problems, even after multiple insertions/removals!
I forgot to say that I use mine in a rather tough way? In one sheet I have 20 doubles. I have 50 sheets in a wine box and 10 boxes at the moment. In my doubles list, around half of my doubles have sheet number assigned. The other doubles are in normal paper envelopes per country and placed alphabetically in shoeboxes (16 boxes), that was my old system, which was rather slow to pick coins from. The coins touch each other and when being picked they got more handled than they were.
Now, if I start a swap, my partner will select the coins he/she needs. I then know if the coin is contained in a wine box or not, since the page number is indicated in my Excel swap list. I also know in which wine box it is contained, so I just have to find the proper wine box and the page, they are numerically sorted in the box, and the only random search I then have to do, is to select the sought coin amongst the 20 in the sheet. Furthermore, I have a reserve of around 60 2x2 double coins in front of me (all assigned to page 000), from where I then take the first unassigned envelope and write the number of the sheet on it and inserts it replacing the swapped coin. Hence, all my sheets are theoretically always full! I have a check in my Excel list counting the coins by sheet, since errors always can happen, so by the next swap I check those sheets.
It works fairly well as a system. It takes a long time to empty my shoebox envelopes, 2 a year only. Of course, it's heavy work to take all those wine boxes into my living room, when I have a concluded a swap and need to pick the coins. I try to make several swaps at the same time to minimize the physical effort of carrying the boxes from and to my store room. I can really feel age is coming, but I still enjoy my hobby….
