In the catalog the 2010 note has diagonal lines as watermarks on each corner.
My 2016 note has no watermarks: was this a variation or is my note counterfeit?
It does fluoresce under UV, so I am thinking it is more likely a variation.

Hello,
I’m the one that added the watermark photo to the catalog and my note is from 2010. I have not handled any other notes to check for watermarks, and the catalog listing for this note in the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money does not indicate a watermark. It’s possible your notes or mine could be variants, or watermarks were present up until a certain year after which they stopped printing them with watermarks.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any other info, so someone that is more of an expert in Haiti notes may need to chime in.
In the meantime I may try to pick up some notes from prior to 2010 and test for watermarks.
Cheers,
Anthony

Thanks, I had the same idea: I have ordered another two years from eBay, I will post when I find which was the last one with the water marks.
This sort of thing I find very interesting!
Will let you know my findings. I’ve ordered a 2004, 2006, and 2012 notes to test
Interesting. Waiting on mine to come in the mail. Will post my findings once they arrive.
I have a 2010 on the way also, doesn't hurt to have that as an extra. I think I will also look for a 2008 now.
Got my 2004 and 2006 notes in the mail today and neither have the watermark. Still waiting on the 2012. I’m interested in whether your 2010 note will or note.
At this point, I feel as though this watermark is falling under one of two circumstances:
1. my note is a weird variety or some kind of freak or error, or…
2. the watermark is unique to the 2010 note for some reason. Not sure why that would be, since the anniversary the note is commemorating was in 2004. Maybe the watermark paper is leftover from another note series? Curious to hear about you 2010 note
Still waiting on my 2012 notes to arrive
That is very interesting!
I am still waiting for my last two notes: a 2010 coming from the US and a 2008 coming from a numismatic shop in France.
When those arrive I'll check those. It is taking forever, it seems!

That is helpful!
So it sounds like my suspicion that only the 2010 note has watermarks was right.
I can take all of this information and make an edit request to update the banknote page later today.
I know this is solved now, but I thought I would add an image of my 2010 note anyway. It arrived today and sure enough it does have those corner marks also:
It’s good to have the confirmation nonetheless.
I have submitted an edit to the page adding notes in multiple places regarding the watermark in addition to the serial number prefixes. submission is still pending but I think we have solved and addressed the riddle here!
My updates to the banknotes page have been approved. All of the prefixes and watermark status have been added.
