UK Customs Restricting Coins

Hello all,

I live in the US and UK customs has returned a 6oz/170g package of coins that I was sending as part of a swap and I am very confused. The USPS gave me a webpage to look at importation restrictions for each country and it looks like the UK restricts coins from coming into the country but there's no way this is correct, is there?

Has anyone else had this issue or do you know a better way to make it easier for customs to accept the package?

when you fill the customs form in call it hobby supplies not coins or money.

Someone in UK receiving a packet from USA would have to pay VAT plus Royal mail  customs clearance handling fee of £II or it's returned to sender.

I no longer buy from USA as VAT on coins is just 5% but I get charged 20% and then have the hassle of claiming a refund from customs, Some sellers on Ebay show 5% and others show 20%. When I point out the error they say they cannot alter it as it's fixed by Ebay.

Anything coming from China comes straight here with no customs fees for some unknown reason

The majority of countries don't allow the sending of coins/ money through ordinary mail. They often don't care if they are demonetized and if the coins are older it can be a crime to export them.

So you swap hobby material now, no more coins, please.

UK customs will still want to know the total value inc shipping regardless of what you say the contents are. And they do scan every packet.

I had a coin come from Pakistan, A nice Mughal copper coin and the seller had wrapped the coin in paper inside the envelope, I opened the packet  and the  wrapping had a cut mark  across it and so did the coin, they actually cut a mark in the coin to see if it was solid!

Oh, man. The world is getting crazy. We can't swap any longer, if we want to continue to be good law-abiding citizens. So we'll end up swapping just inside our respective countries, I suppose?

Is this because our governments need more or more money, or is there any other logical reason? I see the reason behind not being allowed to “export” national treasures, but in my collection, I don't have any😄

Two reasons: greed and control

colleagues.

We have really come, and in a very short period of time, to the deterioration of the possibility of the convenience of the exchange.

It looks like we're going to split up into America, the European Union, and then the whole rest of the world and these various separate islands as well.

But today I was ordering ornaments for Christmas outdoor decorations.  And my son's large three-layer special tarpaulin for the car.

At TEMU, they split my order from Yucatán in China into two shipments.  It's a plane ride and I'll have it here in seven days.

And the other one will drive the truck for 30 days it's the big car cover for my son for his second car.  And everything is free import and I have nothing to do with the customs service.  They have it down pat.
