Need help identifying Persian silver 1 Abbasi [solved]

6 posts • viewed 86 times

I recently purchased a 1 Abbasi, but I'm having a tough time finding a match for the mint and monarch on Numista- any help would be appreciated. It's 25mm as well, though I'm sure the weight would be off due to wear.

My best guess here is that it's an abbassi from Karim Khan of the Zand Dynasty.

I'm not too familiar with these but you can view several here.  I think the mint is Kashan, but I could be wrong.

Vic65 or Geison would be of strong assistance with this, hopefully they can jump in.

Best,

Mike

Thank you so much for your help! I greatly appreciate it- clearly very new to Persian coins after all, haha

Top image :  it looks to me to read as ‘zarb Mashhad’, above the mint from the top down looks like ‘ali hussain shah’, mint looks right  but needs another opinion for the ruler

Now can confirm this is Safavid, sultan Husayn, Mashhad mint, date is visible AH 1130 on both sides of the D of Mashhad

That's perfect! Thank you so much for the help- it really does seem to be an excellent match, and I appreciate your insight and knowledge very much!
