My son just got some old coins.  Where can he go to sell his collectible coins?

We live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The standard advice Numista gives:

If you have some items to sell, we advise you visit a local coin dealer, an auction house, or an online marketplace like eBay, Delcampe, or Catawiki. Feel free to ask for advice on the Numista forum.

 

I suggest trying to identify the coins on Numista first to get an idea of which ones might be valuable and give those extra attention.
