Hello!

I tried old threads but couldn't find the answer.

Is there a way to search coins (in own/other's collection) by actual, specific year?

If, for instance, I need coins from 2020, I want to see which Numista Swapista has them available (and not only the type that contains 2020).

If such function doesn't exist - it should!

The short answer is no.  This is about the best you can do: All coins minted in 2020 available for swap that aren't in my collection.  However coins like this N#90472 will be included, available for swap but only the 2021.

You will have the possibility the day you can mark specific years as 'wished'. But don't hold your breath this gets demanded for over a decade now. For some reason(s) it is not really possible [maybe database structure?] otherwise it would have been implemented many years ago.

With computing platforms as they are today, “not possible” doesn't really exist.

Question is WHY this option is not implemented. Majority of members here would surely benefit from it.

I'm not so sure of that. There are 274,000 Numista members. There are only 2,060 members with anything to swap (0.8%).  Those interested in a particular year rather than a type are even smaller.  It comes down to amount of effort vs. amount of benefit.

That's another issue: it would be interesting to know how many have logged-in more than once in the past year and how many have joined just to ask “how much is my coin worth?”.

I have suggested once to “automate” the membership: 6 months inactivity - message warning. No response - deletion of account. Only then we could have true statistics regarding membership.

I couldn't agree with you more however Numista survives by advertisement revenue. Potential advertisers who read the Numista Advertise page are met with this statement, “In December 2024, Numista received 2,000,000 visits from 1,100,000 unique visitors,…” Numista will never remove members involuntarily. Membership numbers help Numista to survive.
