There's a nice antique jewellers in the “big town” nearby. He's often got a lovely selection of global coins (typically silver or proof sets). The display is usually gorgeous to admire.
Problem is he overcharges significantly & offers way under, so I never buy or sell. The jewellery always seems fair-to-slightly-over, so seems odd for his coins to not be.
A while ago I was helping a friend dispose of some oddments, and there were two half-sovereigns. Selling privately, I would have gotten ~£175 a piece at the time. He offered me £90. I sold to another jewellers in town at £167.50.
Yet he had them marked up (similar age & condition, nothing special) in his window at £240.
He had (and last I saw, still has) some standard condition late Victorian onwards silver crowns. Melt at the time was about £20, you could get them online ~£30. He wanted £45 a piece & wouldn't budge even if I bought the lot.
Very much a nice-to-see but never buy kind of place. Go figure. 🤷
