Something about this seems fishy…

Person just joined today, and the first thing they do is post in the forum about a vote for “banknote of the year 2024” when it is mid March 2025

Did you know that Pluto is still a planet in Illinois and New Mexico and has de facto recognition as a planet in Arizona?

Dear Pluto2181930,

I understand your concerns and would like to clarify the situation.

Regarding the timing of the IBNS Banknote of the Year vote:

  • The IBNS Banknote of the Year competition follows a structured timeline. Each year, banknotes issued during the previous calendar year are eligible for nomination.
  • The nomination process usually begins in January, and voting takes place from February to mid-March of the following year.
  • This means that in March 2025, IBNS members are finalizing their votes for the 2024 Banknote of the Year, as the competition is based on banknotes issued in 2024.  look here

Regarding my profile being new to Numista:

  • While my profile here is new, my involvement in the numismatic community is not.
  • I am the IBNS Regional Director for Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa and an active IBNS member (#LM-259). look here
  • My post was purely intended to inform fellow collectors about the IBNS voting process and provide access to a free catalog that many numismatists find valuable.

If you have any questions about IBNS or the Banknote of the Year competition, I’d be happy to provide more details.

Best regards,
Serhiy Trushyn

Nothing fishy.

This is a legitimate member of the IBNS.  This is our normal annual BNOY voting time.

A simple review of the originally provided links shows this, or google yourself.

The second link is the legitimate IBNS website.

Might be and probably is all legit but if you want to look more legit don't use link shorteners (especially non that are liked by marketing teams) because I ain't clicking on any of those.
