Charles the I Half Crown ?

Hi Dear collectors

I have this coin seems to be a Charles I half Crown. Cannot identify a year or a mintmark just only a circle on the top of obverse but not enough details. on the reverse side we have an oval shield with scrolls and garnished with triple lines. Has a strange shape maybe clipped but unlikely. Its weight 8.61g size 36mm.

Can Anyone help?

It does appear to be a Charles I Half Crown, the one I've linked below. Do you have better photos of the reverse? I am in no way an expert on these coins, but from what I can see in the picture of the reverse, I would be suspicious that it may be a counterfeit.

It also appears that these coins are undated, so you will not get a better date range than 1630-32.

Hope this helps. Maybe someone more experienced in these coins will come along and be able to give some better answers.

One more thing to note that is pointing towards counterfeit, these are supposed to weigh around 14.5 grams, and yours is 8.6. I dont think there is enough material clipped off this coin to cause a 6 gram difference.

Thank you for the answer.
I need to mention the total circumference is smaller with at least 30-35% smaller than the normal coins. The clipped area seems to be smooth on the edges rather than sharp. Seems like was done in haste and there was not enough material for a complete surface maybe minted under constraints or emergency. The silver used is good quality with some nice patina. It could be that the king tried to cause inflation by keeping the face value rather than the material value invested in it😂
