Hello fellow collectors!

I have never added to/edited the catalogue, so I wanted to ask here first so I don't make any mistakes. I searched the catalogue for coins with runic scripts; I found six coins with either non-runic scripts (rather pseudo-runic fonts), or incorrectly labelled runic scripts.

Should I always ask in the forum before editing, or is the forum for larger/more controversial changes?

Faux/pseudo runic fonts:

N#196573
N#334170

Constructed scripts:
N#41877
N#35551

Old Turkic script:
N#305499

Hello!

For my understanding there could maybe be made an argument for creation of scripts something like “Latin (Runic)” and “Cyrilic (Runic)” be made?

The Old Turkish already exist and ready to be added/changed :D

Tengwar is the “Lord of the Rings”-script. So the Runic should just me moved from those, for what I can se.

As a referee (though not from any of the countries in your examples), if it's something which can easily be seen, modify all you want! We have the posibility to ask questions and only partialy validate and if you don't like our argument for a rejection, you can always appeal.

My own personal oppinion is, if it's something which can be observed, found in books and the internet or can be made a good argument for in the “Sources”-field, there is no need to go thruge the Forum for everything.

If the forum is more for larger or more controveersial changes? Well, yes, but also if you lack something, like a new material, signatures (for banknotes) or artists/engravers.

All information you add to an item is validated, either by designated referees for that country or a general catalog administrator.

Best of luck :D

Faux/pseudo runic fonts - these should not have “runic” selected as a script. I see only Canadian coin has it now.

Constructed scripts - in this case Tengwar has their own script selector. Old Turkic as well.

As for description describing the coin as runic, it is challengeable. I would argue for description of those pseudo-runic scripts “lookalikes” that they could mention exactly this. "Pseudo runic writing…"
