I can't find any example of a P# 883a(2) (9 digit serial number) [solved]

I am having a look at these notes because I have acquired some recently.

According to Numista there is a version in this format:

A0A000000

I can't find any record of such a note anywhere, not in the sales, not in the images. But there are users who have registered this note on Numista. There are plenty of 10 digit serial numbers, but I can find nothing with 9 digits.

Can someone verify this?

Interesting.

The info listed here may not be correct.

Both of mine are with 10-digit

There should be always two letters and 8 numbers.

This was a recent change.

From 21 OCT 2020:

Same on 5 JAN 2024

Looks like may have been an attempt to “correct” the P# 883a(2) year line comment and just left off one 0.  Of course that would make it a P# 883b since a(1) and a(2) don't exist.

a(1) definitely does exist, but the a(2) in the January description I can't find either. Although that is 10 digits, it is AA0A000000 format.

So, nowhere can I find:

1) A 9 digit number

2) A 10 digit number with three letters and seven numbers in it

Maybe that a(2) line can be deleted but where do you move the existing owners?

I meant there is no SCWPM code for China 883a(1) and 883a(2). There are only the codes 883a and 883b.  Of course the 883a AA00000000 serial format and the 883b A0A0000000 serial format exists.  The (1) and (2) are only found in Numista.  I was attempting to explain that the current Numista page was probably due to someone “fixing” the 10 letter/number description with the current description 9 letter/number description. Whatever the reason, we're pretty sure a 9 letter/number (that only exists in Numista and only for at most since Jan 2024) doesn't exist, nobody has one and the people (at least most) that entered their banknote on that page did so when it was 10 letter/number and not a 9 letter/number so they're already on the wrong year line.

Ah, I get it now, thanks
