I made my first request to add a new coin to the catalogue on the 14th and it's still not been approved by the referee. I'm wondering what the normal time frame for approvals is?
I wouldn't normally mind but I have a bunch more I want to add and am waiting on this one to make sure I did everything correctly. I don't want to make a lot more requests and waste the referees' and my time with them all being wrong.
Referees have an average of 7 to 12 days to approve new entries, but this depends on whether there is a rarity or something special that needs to be evaluated before approval. After this period, the master referees can help in some way.
It is important to remember that the work of referees is entirely voluntary and subject to their availability.
I believe that you will soon have a response to your request. =)
Regards,
Vladimir.

Catalogue Administrator and Banknote Master Referee.
Is it a simple orthographic correction? (should be very fast)
Is it the addition of an obscure item/issuer even specialists struggle to categorise? (could take quite long)
Is the request filled out with everything needed and sourced very well? (should be quite fast)
Is it not (most likely it will take longer)
It also depends on the referee status:
Does the section have a referee (is he/she absent?)? (if the issuer has an absent referee the catalog admins have only access after about 7 days so that would be the minimum, but catalog admins have sometimes a backlog of hundreds and sometimes thousand+ requests with yours appearing at the end of that)
When does the request handler see your request? (I have validated a few simple requests a few seconds after they were created because I was online/ refreshed a page at the very moment)

It's the addition of a bullion round from the United Kingdom, if that helps?
The UK has no exonumia ref so it depends on how much clutter is in the pipeline until one of the three exonumia master referees (ZacUK, katermurr, Polette) get to your request.
I love Numista but updating the catalog is an area where much improvement is needed. There are a lot of referees who take a very lackadaisical approach to catalog changes. You should not have to wait a month or more to have your catalog changes approved. If referees are too busy in their personal lives to fulfill their duties on this site, then a new referee should be chosen. Referees need to take their role seriously and do what they can to stay on top of changes.
Love the site, but don't love how long it takes some referees to do their job!

I give all the support in the world to those who dedicate their time for unpaid work just to help coin collectors.
If I would complain is about referees accepting any coin without a superficial research, there are coins being accepted upside down, with reference already catalogued, wrong attribution, etc… (I've seen this in older coins).

So that's the reason, it makes sense, guess I chose a bad category for my first contribution.

Sorry, I tought the number of the request would be same as the Numista number.
My bad, I am just an user adding a coin, not expert in the validation of request things.
There is no need to be sorry, I just thought it would be quite obvious what the Numista reference if an item is when looking at a catalog page (you even made a screenshot of it) 😅
