Dear  collectors,

I respect  Stephen  Album, his knowledge, experience  and his contribution in the Oriental Numismatics,

However, the latest listings shocked me. The list of coins put up for auction includes such well-known fakes that do not even require deep analysis .  Please, beware of these  listings:

Probbaly some others are  fakes too ( # 2103 and #2104 for example, and other AE and AR-s  as well ) , but due to  their small size and not very good photos under different  angles, i can not  definitely say they are fakes.

 best regards

D

Dato,

As always, your expertise in this area is much appreciated!  Thank you for letting everyone here know!

I'm bumping this because the auction is starting in two days.

Why not let SARC know?

I think  Mr, Album  became  too old…  He  was quite active  on Zeno, and he knows that there is a special section in Georgian numismatics, where  fakes are posted. He know all  dirty stories about these fakes. But   today they are  on his  respectable auction.

I think,  He retired, and  someone new, less  competitive, rules there… I  can not find more  answer..

I'll reach out to SARC and notify them. It needs to be removed from the auction…

They updated the descriptions after a lengthy review this morning…

It's a shame.

For anyone wondering, here's the section of fake Georgian coins on Zeno.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of fake Georgian coins floating around out there.  I suspect these were probably picked up by a collector decades ago who was fooled, as at the time, the fakes were pretty convincing and there were less examples to compare them to.

It has been removed from the auction 😀

Tha t was a  a great job, I was so afraid  that a  dirty story with Georgian fakes would start again.

Im so hapoy they were removed.

Thanks  , dear QG.  And thanks to all   who tried .
