I have these four coins. They have exact same obverse and reverse, the only difference is 2 of them have numbers on edge and the other 2 don't.
Both with number and one other are 2017, the remaining one without numbers is 2018

They all have same look, color, etc, so I don't know whether they are silver plated or no. Is there any way to distinguish?
Does the numbers on edge mean anything?
Do both plated and non-plated versions come with those numbers?
Shall I add 2018 coin to silver plated or not-plated Numista page?

There's a silver plated Numista page?

Number are probably serial numbers.

this is silver plated.

Ok, numbers may be serial, but are both types numbered? Or only plated? Or only not plated?

That one says it's silver plated nickel (i.e. magnetic). The others are non-magnetic Cu-Ni.

That's a mistake, both silver-plated and gold-plated variants have copper-nickel base

Hi, thank you for this topic. It's interested case. I not yet verified all Gibraltar crown coins, specially these made by Tower Mint.

These are distributed by London Mint Office, so generally one coin in multiple versions just to maximalize the profit and sell as many pieces (versions) of the same coin. I don't like this and usually collect only one. But as a referee, I add to catalogue each variant that exist.

I see that for this coin we have in Numista 4 different versions:

- “standard” CuNi N#124850

- CuNi with coloured poppies N#162191

- Gold plated CuNi N#125499

- Silver plated Nickel (it was created this way, no further changes. I'm not sure if the core is Nickel or CuNi and cannot find any, if you have CoA, please provide)

N#237139

I added the comment that limited edition with individual numbering exist. Soon, will add also 2018 yearline.

All your coins looks like standard versions made from CuNi. Not silver plated, not gold plated, no coloured. You have in fact 3 versions: 2017, 2017 numbered, 2018.

I was able to find on eBay standard and Gold plated. And for normal version, I found CoA with and without info about “limited edition”. See below screenshots:

Update:

Just searched 2018 coins and I found only the certificates for limited numbered version, so again two variants exists also in 2018 if yours is without number.

I added comments & missing variants in CuNi page.

Zura2, if you have the CoA for silver plated coin, please let me know and I will adjust composition. If not, i will add only the note.

Can you please confirm that coins without numbering have the plain section on edge too?

Thank you. Unfortunately I don't have CoA for any of them. I can confirm all coins have plain section, including those without numbering

Thanks, just added the photo of edge of my 2017 coin - without numbering. I improved the edge description for standard CuNi version, will follow with all needed updates for full series in coming days.

You can use my photo for edge numbers in the first post
