b. Mint Places of Mughals & Others in the Names of Mughals]

Could you give example coins that need those mints? That would be good justification for creating mint record in Numista.

If you register ticket that requires 39 changes without justification, it might be just ignored due to amount of work you expect others to do.

  1. Coins from these mints were minted, that is a matter of record (I have quoted two sources above). Some of these mints existed even before the Mughals and some continued after the Mughal reign. For e.g., Alwar (at serial no. 13) was operational till 1877. So having these mints listed will benefit not only coins from the Mughal empire but also those from Indian princely states and independent kingdoms.
  2. If coins from any of these mints are not on Numista, then I hope they will be listed on Numista, sooner than later, and I hope they will have the mint name assigned to them at the time of listing, making them easier to search. But if the mints are not listed on Numista, then it will not be possible to assign the mint name at the time of creation of the coin page.
  3. Not having the correct mint names also leads to coins being incorrectly classified. A case in point is 1 Paisa - Aurangzeb Alamgir Hyderabad - mint assigned is Hyderabad, India (1803-date) for a coin minted between 1690 – 1705 ! Quite apparently this coin could not have been minted at a mint that came into existence a century later. Presumably, the correct mint is `Asafnagar, modern day Hyderabad’ (at serial no. 35 above).
  4. Asking for coins to be listed before the mints is a bit of a chicken and egg situation, (whereas clearly the mints came before the coins)
  5. I would imagine adding mints individually is more time consuming for all concerned than doing it in bulk.
  6. I sincerely hope it is not ignored because I too had to put in a lot of effort to create this list. It wasn’t simply a case of copy pasting, it required finding the alternative names and checking on Numista for both the old and alternative new names and then listing the ones I could not find.
  7. Also see this forum thread regarding populating mint names for coins already listed on Numista - Adding mint in Mint(s) section for existing coins. I presume the mints will have to be in place first before the system / robot can correctly classify / slot the existing coins.

As indicated in another page, we need location of the mint and time of when the mint was active: ex 1650 to 1700

Also it is easier if you add one mint per topic.
