Its a good idea, as the 50 and 100 Baht are widely used in markets and the like. There is also a gap between the 100 and 500 baht, which means usually multiple 100s are used. 100 baht is worth around $3 USD and 500 - $15 US, so hence their importance, especially amongst poorer and more rural Thai. Also consider Thailand even in its cities has many roadside stalls, tuk tuks and baht buses that rely on large amounts of low value notes and coins.
