Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic [solved]

I am looking for the identification of this item. I apologize that I do not have the diameter or weight. I was hoping that someone might be able to point me in the direction based on the photos. I have attempted to use the image search with each side individually and together. Not sure if I have the orientation correct so I also tried the image search rotating the images 90 degrees each time to see if that might help.

Thank you in advance for any assistance provided.

Is that second picture correct -

looks like reverse image with 1787 date above the shield?

To be honest, these photos were sent to me asking for help. I do see what you mean about what appears as 1787 mirrored. I do not know. I had assumed that the first image which comes across like some Hungary coins might be the biggest way to identify.

Had a quick look - castle [and P letter] one side, and curved shield the other

Both sides with an inner roped circle, and that first side may not

be a castle. Some shape with maybe crowns at the top - perhaps

Shame it is not clear what is on the left, with P on the right

Is it a number or letter - such as 3 / P would be a denomination,

or X / P would be initials of the ruler. Hoping someone recognizes

what this is. It does look slightly familiar, but still no idea from where …

Here I am, two hours later, still looking. If that 1787 is correct,

and maybe that is an angular 3 with the P then at that time what

currencies beginning with P were there -

as that would greatly help in finding the coin.

Maybe - Paisa / Para / Penny / Pfennig / Piastre? / Piccioli /

Poltura / Polushka / Pound - and so on …

Hi there, the S and P on the coin points maybe to a Maravedis coin from Santo Domingo https://en.numista.com/catalogue/santo-domingo-1.html

Well done. So the first picture is letters I crowned.

I think that is where I have seen them before. Thanks :)

Thanks for all the help!!

So back to original pictures, and S P is the mintmark. The first side may

end in IHOANA lettering. Now not sure what is at the top - may not be a date.
