I usually found those in bags of mixed coins that are sold by the kilo(s) (so around 10-15 cents).

Well, then you're paying too much for those coins.

 

I myself have gotten some for 5 to 10 reais, which is equivalent to 1 to 1.85 dollar each. And that's considering they were coins I chose to take home, but if you buy a batch of assorted coins, it's even cheaper.

 

They are very common indeed, and considering Mr. Verov is Belgian, that makes them even more common.
