Echo from the past

Hi Coin lovers!

Today, while i was checking the last balk of coins I got from flea market, I found very interesting coin.

Its not interesting as coin - quote common 10 pfennig from German Empire 1900, Mint A (Berlin), but what I found on that.

Someone with very nice handwriting style - scratched on reverse, above and below the value

"Georg

7.10.03"

And I wonder, pretty sure, that this is hello from 1903, not 2003. Cause the handwriting, how numerals written - it is very old fashioned.

Interesting, isnt it? What was that? Day of birth? Day of Death? Some important date? First dating with woman, or smth like that?

or smth simple, who knows.

But it is very very interesting.

P.S. Sorry, photo on phone is not so good.

How awesome is that though? Was it just a bored little doodle or an important part of someone's life? We'll never know but it's so amazing to have it survive.

I've got a bunch of banknotes from ~1850-~1930 with handwritten signature. And you have to wonder if they ever thought they'd be around this long. Whole thing is just an amazing glance into history.

Love it!

Absolutely, its like the puzzle of life!

Cool thread! Nice find.

The writer had indeed good penmanship already.

This was a little practice piece. I suppose, the same person made greater works in his career!
