Very simple, yet so distinctive.

Aidan.

I was informed the link to the Royal website may not work.

Here is Nationalbanken's website, which may work.

I have added the coins, waiting for approval. I can't get good pictures to add, so unless I figure something out, I hope someone else will add pictures :D

The Royal Court's website worked for me.

Here is link to the only place you can buy the coin sets first hand:

As the website note and I repeat here:

The 50 Øre is not to be redesigned and will simply continue in its ciurrent form, since it doesn't have a monarch specific design like the rest of the coins.

According to Berlingske Tidene (BT), the coins are already found in two groccery stores, in East Jutland and Zealand:

This is truly shocking because cash is rarely used in Denmark as I have been told 😉

Ha-ha, reminds me of the last time I was in Denmark. We were shopping at BILKA, one of the largest hypermarkets in Denmark, and I saw a young dude working frantically to unlock a shopping cart, but he did not have a coin or a token to do so. BILKA no longer sells cart tokens, so a regular coin is the only option. Hooray for an analog old dude who still carries cash. 😆

Edit: But cart tokens are sold by one of the the competitors:

Which leads to my comment on the new design of the Danish kroner coins. The 1-2-5-kroner coins reminds awfully lot of cart tokens. 😄

Are they planning to issue proof sets?

Interesting, good portrait of His Majesty, he has a strong chin.

The coins are pretty plain though, although it looks like at least that coat of arms includes Kaalat Nunaat (Did I get that right) and Faroyar as well.

Looks like they have abandoned the 50 ore too? Are they just leaving the Margarethe era coins legal tender and not making a new design of 50 ore.

The previous designs and series date from 1989 and 1990 I think. There was earlier series that went from 5 ore to the large 5 kroner and the thicker but smaller 10 Kroner from 1973 to 1989, but the 10 Kroner was only introduced in 1979.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

No proof sets as far as I'm aware of, only (official) sets you can buy are from Nordfrim just like the changeover coin. See my post further up.

50 Øre will continue to be produced in its current for. See my post further op.

All coins from after 1945 (or around that time) valued 50 Øre or more are still legal tender, but only the recent Magrethe II coins are in active circulation.

Sounds great, the Danish have been doing the Change of Monarch coin at least since 1670, I will try and get this one. The only one I have is the 1906 one of Christian IX to Frederik VIII.

I'm just curious, is there someone who ordered the Danish set with Frederik X. coins from Nordfrim? I've ordered it a few days after they started selling it in December and “because of the high demand,” it was only shipped from Denmark now. I wonder if it was the same with all customers and if someone actually got it before January 1st (especially because no one mentioned getting one in threads about new additions, or at least I didn't see it there).

Thanks for your answers

Mine were delivered last week. I ordered them on the 12th of December.

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...

Uh! If you got the official coin set, can you add it as a set to the respective coins? :D

I created a set page for the coins. Photos are terrible, but I hope someone else will upgrade them.
