Estimate Value of this RM50

I have 1 pc of the above RM50 note.

this note is without metal thread strip on right hand side ( front page) and the printing of numeral 50 is not completed ( shows partical 5 and 0 missing).

The local bank confirmed this note is  a genuine one. May i ask, such note  with double error is rare and worth how much?

Dear Steve

I am 99.99% sure that this is a homemade error. The hologram strip was purposely removed by someone from the note. If this was a genuine error note, the 0 from the value 50 would have remained on the note. Same as the A from the word Malaysia at the bottom. As the 0 was printed on top of the hologram strip, when you remove the hologram strip, you remove everything printed on the strip. The last time I saw one of these was more than 15 years ago and it was on the RM10, sold on eBay.

Try acetone or nail polishing removal on one of your current 50 ringgit. Place one or 2 drops on the strip and rub it with a piece of cloth and you will see what I mean. This is not new.

In terms of value, that would depend on Bank Negara's policy, as in some countries, it is against the law to deface a legally tender banknote. If this is the case, your note would have no value. If not, then it is still worth 50 ringgit.
