possible to identify an Asian/Japanese medal? [solved]

5 posts • viewed 116 times

Hello,

I have had this piece for years, but I have no idea what it is.

It weighs 3.3 g, is oval in shape (16.1 mm x 28.2 mm), 1.3 mm thick, brass-coloured, embossed on one side and smooth on the other.

Does anyone have any idea what this piece is or can even identify it?

At the moment, I can't even place the characters in the right region, let alone read or translate them. Perhaps the image needs to be rotated. Maybe someone can decipher or translate the characters (Tensho Tai ???).

I suspect that it is a medal from Japan from the 1970s or 1980s, so around 50 years old.

I am curious to hear your assessment. But don't be blinded by my ideas, they could be completely wrong.

Many thanks in advance.

For posterity's sake, as these links will become useless in due time, it seems to be the bottom of some Chinese perfume bottle.

Wow, I was completely wrong. There used to be a Chinese bottle like that here in the house, but I don't know who has it now. I'm sure the medal will be missing from it. Many thanks to everyone involved.
