India temple token seeking translation

7 posts • viewed 103 times

Weight is 10.0g 2mm thick 32mm diameter. Likely a temple token. Non magnetic. I dont have a test kit to determine the metal. Maybe has a silver content or just nickel. Im mostly seeking any translation or info on the figure and the history of this coin.

Please search saint Jalaram or Jalaram Bapa

No idea how correct this picture is

શ્રી  ભકત  જલારામ  બાપા

Śrī bhakata jalārāma bāpā

Shri Bhakat Jalaram Bapa

… all that may be correct, or not …

Thank you both kindly. I wasn't able to find another like it from searching. But the story of Jalaram Bapa is intriguing. Any guess to the translations on the reverse? Theres two words on the left and right of the Om and a third at the bottom that may be numbers.

The script is gujurati under the portrait. I read Hindi, not gujurati, but it looks about right… “Bhakt” means Devotee; “Bapa” means "Father" in a guru-disciple sense.

On the left of the OM is “Laab”, on the right is “Shubh”, on the Bottom “999 Chaandi" i.e. Silver

Shubh means Peace while Laab means prosperity; traditional blessings

Whether its really silver is unlikely; you'd have to do a ping test to confirm

Thank you greatly. Sounds like a positive piece for me to display.
