Help Verify Attribution: CONSTANTINOPOLIS AE3 (Victory on Prow) [solved]

Hi everyone,

I’d appreciate help verifying an attribution for a Late Roman bronze coin.

Coin details:

  • Diameter: 17.55 mm
  • Weight: 3.39 g
  • Thickness: 2.13 mm
  • Slight/weak magnetism (not strongly magnetic)

Attribution (tentative):

Roman Empire, Constantine I era (c. AD 330–335)

City Commemorative AE3 Nummus – CONSTANTINOPOLIS type

Obverse: Helmeted bust of Constantinopolis facing left. Legend is worn but appears consistent with CONSTANTINOPOLIS (partial letters visible such as OP / IS).

Reverse: Victory (Nike/Victoria) standing left on ship’s prow, holding a spear/scepter.

Mintmark (exergue): unclear but may read SMNΔ, which would indicate Nicomedia, officina 4.

If the mintmark reading is correct, the closest match seems to be:

RIC VII Nicomedia 64 (or similar Nicomedia Constantinopolis issue)

Could anyone confirm whether this is the correct mintmark and RIC number, or suggest a better attribution?

Thanks in advance!

The mintmark looks TRP to me: N#45269

same for me : TRP Trier !!!

Agree with them, TRP - Treveri.
