I am from Brazil and I found this coin in circulation.

It is a France 2 Euro Cent 2024 with the Marianne design.

When I rotate the coin vertically, the reverse appears upside down (approximately 180° rotation).

I would like to know:

1) Is this a real rotated die error?
2) How rare is this type of error for this coin?
3) What could be the approximate value?

Thank you very much for your help.

Have you looked at its catalog page?

That's normal, it's in medal orientation, like all euro coins. The value … 2 cents.

Hello again,

Thank you for your previous clarification.

To be more certain and to eliminate any possible hand-rotation influence, I performed an additional controlled test. I fixed the coin between two aligned guides (using tape as a straight reference) and rotated it forward along a consistent vertical axis on a flat surface.

In this controlled setup, the reverse side (Marianne) still appears upside down relative to the obverse, very close to a 180° rotation.

I have uploaded a new video in the Drive folder showing this test more clearly. I would greatly appreciate if you could take another look and share your opinion on whether this could indicate a rotated die error or if it is still within normal minting tolerances.

Thank you again for your time and expertise.

You are still rotating it on the horizontal axis and expect the faces to be upright like on an American coin ("coin" orientation/180° die rotation/↑↓). But this coin is in “medal” orientation/0° die rotation/↑↑. Rotate it on the vertical axis and both faces will be upright.

Medal alignment.

A totally normal coin !
