Need help with identifying this Silver Art Bar

4 posts • viewed 34 times

This appears to be a vintage privately minted “art bar.”

The obverse features a steam locomotive design, struck in .999 fine silver, while the reverse has a waffle/grid pattern with a centered oval reading “ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER.”

There are no clear identifying marks or mint hallmarks present. I’m curious if anyone recognizes this bar and can help identify the mint and approximate year of production.

Thank you 😊

Various pictures of the reverse seen online with different weights -

all mention that mint.

I did use google lens and read that the reverse design was noted as Silvertowne. As well as  the poss producers from front design could include private mints like Madison Mint, Mount Everest Mint (MEM), Hamilton Mint, or similar bullion/art-bar manufacturers from that era.

thanks for the replies as it’s much appreciated
