Same coin. Rhodesia and Nyasaland ½ penny 1958. The metals look different. The one is bronze and in light The second one looks more nickel. Could the second one be some sort of test piece or why would the same coin be both bronze with such a difference in the color?

Interesting… same weight?

I hadn't taken them out of the holders for a weight comparison. But I can if it helps lead to more info. I didnt see anything in the comments in uts respective nunista page. So my assumption was it isn't bronze or maybe some other reason theres a considerable difference in the color.

Reminds me of the UK 1 penny 1967 you see a lot not looking bronze. School project electro-plating coins was rife during the latter part of the 60's I guess it was chemistry teachers way of looking cool. So my guess it's plated. You should do a XRF test to be sure.

Here you find the different forms of bronze:

I suppose the different bronze alloys have different colors, so it's difficult to deduce which bronze is which?

Both coins in daylight at a window (slightly rainy today.) with my scale both weigh 2.9g. So either of your possible explanations could be the answer. Maybe an electroplating science project or if the Tower Hill mint was using different bronzes for this particular one. Thank you all for your input.
