Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
Yet another Pacific country that issues coins solely for collectors, Cook Islands are similar, and Tuvalu.
Palau is somewhere in that mix too, isn't it?

Cook made circulation coins!

I know, I've got tons of Cook Coins, but they don't use them.  They use New Zealand currency, you pay with NZ money you get NZ money back.  You have to hunt to actually find somewhere that uses Cook Islands coins.  They also put out tons of commemorative coins and that is what I was referring to.  Their KM numbers go up to over 800 and only about 50 of them were circulating currency.
Thank you, Zack, and everyone else for the replies!

To tell the truth I even e-mailed the NZ mint, but they never gave me a reply, and that was 2 months ago.

How much do you reckon the coin's worth? I've been seeing it selling for US$60-$90.
According to NCG it's worth $100

That seems very generous to me. Who here would pay that for it. I have to say if one appeared in a collection I bought I would be tempted to weigh it in.
I suppose it's because Niue is a relatively rare country to get coins from and the commemorative issues are relatively low mintage.  Even here in NZ the Niuean coins don't come up very often.
True but rarity does not always mean high value. Their are plenty of rare coins that are worthless.
Yep, then it's demand, any Niuean coins that come up for sale here get swept up pretty quickly, God knows why, I hate those colourised commemoratives with a passion.

Well I couldn't agree with you more. Thanks for the heads up - should I come across one I will sell it to some poor sod with no sense of taste.  :D
I would never pay for coins like more as melt value- well, maybe little bit over, but I would swap for value- lets say 60-80usd easily.
