India - Divided Legend?

5 posts
I saw few 1840 silver rupee coins termed as 'divided legend', so as an ignorant fool that  I am, I don't know what does it mean. Somebody please tell me what is 'divided legend'.

Thank you.
I think it is referring to the division of writing on the obverse because of Queen Victoria's head.
Ordinarily, on Victorian coins, the legend goes right round the coin.
As bam777 mentioned it is referring to the division of legend "Victoria Queen" on the obverse.
