I finally got to my Spanish coins to catalogue them...
And I am lost. Big time...
Take 5 peseta 1975 for example.
Sounded easy enough until I wanted to add it to catalogue.
There is whole row of 1975 variations. They are subsequently called
1975 75
1975 76
1975 77
1975 78
and so on.....
I remember through fog someone once saying something about Spanish minting their coins with same year number on them, but actually being minted in different years. I assume that's what is the story here, but I can't find the real year anywhere on coin.
Oyee, thanks, bam.
Found on most coins, some are so small that they are not easy to recognize the right number...
Still can't find where it's hidden on 1985 and 1987 1 peseta? Or there isn't hidden one on these? And on newer 5 pesetas, like 1984. There's mintmark instead the star.
The date of the coins is the date of the law according to which the coin was minted.
Inside two stars we have the mint date "19" "74".
The system was used between 1946 and 1982.
If the date inside the stars cannot be read, the coin has almost no value.
