Weird little token. The obv and rev are same, so I only took one pic. Medal alignment.

Thanks.

I created that page a year ago (2013-08-04 13:20:22 – ZacUK – Page creation) and eight members have since marked it in their collections. I guess yours is also 19mm; I think they were used in 'fruit machines / one-armed bandits' and they are from UK. If anyone has more information you can write it on here and I can add it to the page. :)

A 'fruit machine' in UK is a slot machine, or one arm bandit, gambling machine - that sort of thing (with reels on with pictures of fruit, cherries, oranges etc). They pay out money for three in a row and so on, and higher values did not pay out in cash but in tokens, which could only be put back in the machine. And I do not have precise measuring equipment here - just an old ruler from when I was at school many years ago. I will change the page to your measurements.

Oooooh Okay, a slot machine. Gotcha! I was thinking, hmmm weird. A Produce vending machine, UK people must love their produce. lol.

Sounds good, thanks!

Hi! I'm just about to enter one of these into the catalogue. I thought my chances of finding this were zero, but there we are, two types. Has anyone noticed that the ‘1’s are slightly different? This may be an easier way of identifying them if you only have a ruler, like me.

 Numismatics, eh?

 Cheers, AY

… Has anyone noticed that the ‘1’s are slightly different?

Not sufficiently different to lead to a variety. May be just different dies

Barnabus

… A Produce vending machine …

Not at all

ZacUK… They pay out money for three in a row and so on, and higher values did not pay out in cash but in tokens, which could only be put back in the machine …

The law didn't authoriszed any cash gain. So manufacturer put distributors of chewing-gum as you can see of this Roll-a top machine :

These add-on were immediatly desactivated by the owner cause they were gambling machines, not chewin-gum distributors !

I agree with you, Frenchlover - different dies. I think this token is lovely in its simplicity.

One token to rule them all …

Indeed. 😄 Are we known for anything else? Don't say sheep.
