Mint year in a weird place?

Several people are confused with Spanish coins showing mintyear in stars:

And this one has the mint year on the edge:

Or a mintmark on the edge, for a change:

Can you share some other weird placement of mintyear?
Or the value only on the edge

Year on coin twice; once on reverse and once on edge ...

That coin above I got in change the other day; looks like an error where the 1 in edge date is missing. Luckily that coin of mine has the dates in a position to show one next to the other, as it is random.  :)

Cool, thanks, keep on coming.

I was just philosophically wondering what the intention / propaganda value for the Bolivian  ruler would be to actually post mintyears 3 times.

One thing I love about numismatics is to figure out the reasons for certain things....
All new US dollar coins have year and mint on the egde now.
It is, what it is, or is it.

Why?
Probably an issue of space on the coin (although a pain in the ass to read the edge)
