Small gold coin suggestions

Hello all,

I am interested in buying a gold coin for my collection but don't want to buy anything big, and don't know many small coins. So my question is if any of you know of coins I can buy that cost less then One-hundred dollars, and has a mintage of less then one million total minted. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

      Thanks
Canada has just introduced a 2014 one-gram Gold Maple Leaf investment coin, face value 50 cents, containing one gram of .99999 fine gold. These are selling for about $55 (in my city anyway), making them basically the cheapest gold bullion coins on the market.

If you think that's not rare enough, there are other commemorative 25c or 50c gold coins from Canada with mintages under 100,000 and prices under $100, but these have a large premium compared to their gold value (you might pay twice the gold value for one).
Thanks Nalaberong, but I am looking for older coins, these new coins are nice for investments but I like my coins with a little wear on them. It gives them character, and more history.
100$, old and gold dont go together.

Nalaberong is correct. 1gramm maples are a waste of money. To much spread.

Try miniatures, they're collectable and cheap.
Cents are money too!

Around 50 dollars.
EDIT: Scratch that, too many minted.

UK half sovereign won't cost too much over $100

Is this something you want?
Check my doubles ;)
Thanks everyone for your suggestions

what I want is a coin from the 1940's or earlier.
Has a value of $100 or less.
Is gold.
And has a mintage less then One-Million.
Yeah, I think we all want magical coins like that.   0:)

But I think you are going to have to drop one of your requirements.
No, I found one within those requirements yesterday.
Guatemala 1861 4 reales, its melt value is almost 30 dollars in gold, has a mintage of 277,000 and cost less then One-hundred
Dollars in XF.
old Indian gold fanam coins can be very interesting and many are just 0.4g
I was going to recommend a gold fanam but while there not mintage figures I am pretty sure they are way over a million for mintage, as they were minted for a long time.

Martel, I hadn't thought about Guatemala.   :wiz:   Here is a 1 1860 4 Reales for $100 with shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Guatemala-1860-4-Reales-Gold-Extra-Fine-Scarce-/221613063582?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item33992afd9e
Thanks Jade, I have seen the 1860 4 reales but I didn't see the mintage on Numista. So I haven't looked into buying one. It might be my best option at the moment.

Hi!
There are 2 very small collectable gold coins emitted by the Bank of Latvia: named "Zelta abele" (Golden Apple Tree) and "Ak, Sveta Lestene!" (Oh, holly Lestene! (name of the village)).
These ones 100% fits your needs. :)

Every single coin on the world should meet its collector!
Maybe I'm a little late to the party but may I suggest the Swedish gold 5 kronor minted 1881 - 1920?

At 2.24 grams of 0.900 gold they have a current bullion value around $80 and yes, with a bit of luck and the exception for high-grade specimens they can be found online at prices close to spot, certainly below $100.
Highest mintage year was 1901 at 109,186.

Thanks for your suggestion these coins are perfect for what I want!
There are some very small Indian gold coins that come up on ebay occasionally. Se the following numista coin as a possibility

Martel,

If you're willing to drop the $100 price limit, I would highly recommend $1 gold pieces (Either the "Liberty Head" or the "Princess Head"). They're pretty easy to sell or swap if you feel like you don't want them anymore. Plus, if you are a fan of Mark Twain, I would imagine it's what Huck Finn would receive every day from Judge Thatcher.
Wow this princess heads are cute. Must get one too. :8D

What is the best site to find the U.S. gold one dollars? I checked ebay and couldn't find any under 130.00 in bad condition. I have heard ebay isn't good for buying coins but I don't know of any others.
I saw some for 1300$ at ha.
