1953 1 Pfennig coin with no mint mark

6 posts
I have a 1953 1 Pfennig coin (KM# 5) with no mint mark under the word Pfenning. The coin is not worn so the mark should be readable. What do I have?
No 1 Pf coins minted in 1953 according to SCWC ..  Would you please post pictures .. ??

It seems you are not alone. It was most likely a clogged die that led to the missing of the mintmark. At least the guys on the forum say that this was an issue with the early aluminium coins of the GDR.
sorry double post  :~
