India Princely States?????? Help please!!!

9 posts
First I'd like to say how much I love this site!! I've been coming here for a few years to identify coins with confidence. All involved have done an amazing job!! Hands down, the best collection of coin knowledge anywhere!!  Thank You!

I should have joined years ago, but just did this evening as the light bulb lit up.... Ahaaaa. If anyone can help, these guys can!

If any one of you wonderful souls can help identify this coin it would be greatly appreciated, and many, many thanks in advance!

I believed this to be of the India Princely States, but cannot find any  pictures to match here on Numista.  I'm thinking India is on the right track.
I found one picture this evening using Google with a different date, and variations on the obverse at some crazy middle east "eBay" like site. But that was a waste of time when it came time to actually identify. They were claiming Hyderabad/ Madina....wanted 13 million USD lol...nope.

Coin is about 27mm, 14g,  and I'm pretty sure it's silver. Usually I can read an obvious date, and or denomination. The variations in the apparent date numerals have me out of my mind, and going bald.
Look under India in *Tokens*, it's an Indian wedding token

Thank you so much guys! I had a feeling I was on the right track with India. I should have realized, and looked in the "Token" category. Thanks PetrusAscanus for noting the orientation of 2nd pic, and the very specific info.

No wonder I couldn't translate anything......

Building off all your info I did find a little more info that states tokens of this kind were made of high grade Silver starting in the mid 19th century, but by the mid 20th century were in fact silver washed brass.

I don't believe everything I read on the interwebz...... So the search continues to age this thing. Just going on the dates of the coins in the collection this came from. I'm leaning towards the late 19th century. I know I'm on the right track now. Anymore input would still be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again everyone!!!
To know every detail of a coin/token/jeton/medal is what I like.
You can learn a lot about politics/culture/religion of a country/ruler.
Sometimes it is very difficult to find out everything, or even to simply identify a coin.
It can take weeks! I have only 1 coin without identification.

Here is a similar token:

I'm almost through all the Middle Eastern coins I have procured. I've learned so much, Just amazing.. Next is a stack of Asian coins. A whole new learning curve, a whole new dating system. Looking forward to it!!

Thanks again everyone!
z| oops.... Sorry for the bump...
I think dating is rather impossible, since they were made over a long period of time.
