It actually is a symbol of peace and love as opposed to a fascist regime. In India and Nepal, the swastika as well as the star of david are symbols that are widely used. For instance, check out this door that has both symbols on it. I had a german colleague who went to India on a business trip and was flabbergasted when he saw the swastika painted all of the place...Yes, I recall seeing it in India often.
