I like that "Show what you buy or presented" thread, but like all pictures threads it gets pretty big pretty fast and it takes a while to load the images.  So I thought it would be better to have one thread for each month where we can show what we're buying, swapping, finding or getting as gifts.

Here's my May additions so far:

Australia - I found a decent quality George V halfpenny and I finally got round to picking up a silver round 50c coin

German states - I got a nice looking Wruttemburg 3 Kreuzer and a Hannoverian 2 Pfennige

Canada - I completed the 1967 set by picking up the 50c coin in a swap with an awesome Numista member and then I found a high grade Upper Canada token for a decent price so I bought that straight away

I received few coins in may, one being this beatiful piece from a great swap.

The coin is actually better condition that it seems.
well, my most recent coins that I really like are this 1964 Egyptian 50 Qirshā, Diversion of the Nile

and this 1970 5 Balboas, Central American Games

Cool coin. Looks like an octopus wearing a crown!

Ha!, Yes maybe that's where the UK got their nickname for one pound, a quid (squid)  ;)
Luxembourg:

This is the highest circulating denomination produced for Luxembourg. It is the same size as its Belgian equivalent. Notice the die damage here, I've heard that the Belgian mint has poor quality control.

Two Albanian coins:

This coin is a copy of a design used on ancient coins. You don't often see Albanian coins because the country was so marginalized and isolated for so many years, so usually I buy them as soon as I see them. Even the modern Albanian coins aren't easily found. One day I hope to visit, the country has been very highly recommended by all kinds of travel writers.

This coin would be hard to identify because the Albanian word for "Albania" does not resemble ours at all. (It's a Balkan problem - presumably the inhabitants of Crna Gora, Hrvatska, and Hellas all have similar complaints.)

Silvers:

All Danish colonial coins are inherently surprising because Denmark never really got a reputation as a "colonial power". The Danish West Indies are now the U.S. Virgin Islands, because money talks.

A silver dime from Hong Kong.

And some Iraqi silver.

A few weeks ago I made a trip to the store with metric tonnes of bulk world coins in stock, as previously mentioned in the "New countries added to your collection" thread. It's in a diverse neighbourhood, so you can find a lot of newer coins from interesting countries. All of these were 20 cents each :D

Up to now all I've had in May is this gun money shilling. 300 years to the month before I was born :-)

I also received an awesome coin in said swap with Neil....though I only have the link not a picture at the moment

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces18188.html

I also got this for a great price in XF

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces15904.html

Thats it for me for May and maybe June too!

Paid £15 posted. Yes it is holed, but at least its holed neatly (and small) and condition is otherwise nice.

Paid £10.50 each, decent fine condition. I have 5 of these now, I cant resist them if they're cheap!
New Canadian coin

Just received lots of Hungarian and Cyprian coins, with a few others: Vatican City/Pontifical States, Viet-Nam, BCEAO/French West Africa, Vanuatu, Venezuela (new country) and a German-Polish notgeld: a Strassenbanhgeld from Breslau/Wroclaw

Additions this week

 I do love beautiful things, and had to get this silver coin with a famous painting on it;
normally I hate colourised or similar coins ...

I thought it was a coin though, as it has the Queen's portrait and country and a year, but I can see no denomination. Diameter a large 55mm with milled edge.
Obverse: Elizabeth II  Cook Islands  2013
Reverse: 'Masterpieces of Art'  2013  John Collier

Also today these arrived (daylight fading so will replace with better images tomorrow) ...

My last purchases for May

NZ merchant tokens

Canadian Bank Tokens

And some Conder tokens

Nice tokens! I especially like those Canadian bank tokens. Are these somewhat affordable or expensive to buy?

too many for me to link to, my post would look like a book.  :°

some of what I have purchased this month, quite a few proofs and a few half crowns to finish off a silver crown run from 1887 to 1970, 5 coins left to get. :~

Pic doesn't do this coin justice, There is a perfect bright ring of rainbow toning around the edge of this 1977 jubilee Crown.

Got this one today.  :` Proof EEC 50p.

I've been picking them up for NZ$10-20

In my experience they are usually in the $5-$20 range in worn to average condition.
It depends on which ones you buy too, because some are more than others.  The three I bought this time were all in the NZ$10-$15 range (US$7-$10.50)
I'm starting to get into your end again Neil, on the lookout for a few Tasman coins.

I just got a lorraine 1 liard 1728 Leopold I for just 4 euros!!!
even though it isn't in great condition, it is still a bargain.
Quote: Mark240590I'm starting to get into your end again Neil, on the lookout for a few Tasman coins.

I need to pick up one of those, but they all seem to be going for above catalogue value at the moment, and it's not top priority so I can wait.
I just put in a lowball figure for it and won, the sellers pics weren't so great so I was taking a punt. He said he guaranteed 100% genuine. So naturally with the buyer protection I gave it a go. Pleased I got it now. There's a few missing coins from Oz & NZ I'm after now so I'll be in touch :)

Still struggling to find reference to that hull halfpenny other than what you've found.
I do spur happy people in here. B)
Due to the pictures they should be happy, I do envy  them.  :D  8)
Cents are money too!
I am watching a 1938 Australian crown on eBay now, currently on £50 but I am sure that will change.

according to NGC the price is vf £125 for the UK

I have a feeling it's the same seller. Mine was £52 all in. He's sold a canny few coins now though so I think his listings are getting dearer.
This is the one I am watching. 1938 Aus crown ebay link
