Proper size of 1781 8 reales?

7 posts
I have several 8 reales coins and all are 39 to 40 mm in width. However, my 1781 Mexico City mint mark 8 reales is only 38 mm. Is this correct?  Or do I have a fake?  I can find no info showing it should be a different width than other years.  It also has chopmarks.

Thanks. I just joined this site and this is my first post.
please post photos, do you have a coin scale? Important tool to have

Also this for silver coins https://en.numista.com/forum/topic4060.html
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

The 1781 is in the middle.  In the previous pic it is placed on top of the slightly larger coin.

Thanks for the ice tip, I'll try it!
It says it should be 40 mm so it does not look good for you, especialy because its in good condition. Can You weigh it, what does the edge look like?

Do you have more 8 R?

Not all the 8 Reales have the same size
Bolivia 8 Reales from Carolus III and the First one from Carolus IIII are bigger than Mexico.
Sorry no Swaps. Paraguay Post Office is to risky and they don't allow to send coins nor notes
What's the edge like? It was possibly shaved.
