He seems like a very reputable dealer, I hope his losses on this item are not too substantial. I guess that's all of our worst nightmare, a prized coin and centerpiece of our collection turns out to be a fake. Even experienced dealers can be taken in.

In my opinion books are as important as coins and of equal value is having knowledgeable friends who can be relied on when you need advice on a particular coin. Every serious collector should spend as much time increasing their own knowledge and building a circle of friends and contacts as they do on their collection.
