There aree two questions to the article
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1684.html

1. What does it mean
'smaller letter'
'larger letter'
?

2. Why this emission is marked as
Demonetized
and at the same time two emissions earlier type https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6122.html
is not?!

The first coin also has two lines for the year 2014.
Who could explain the difference between coins when we use terms:

-smaller letters
-larger letters
-two lines

please?

Guess they just have some letters bigger and some smaller. One who have both types can tell us.
Catalogue administrator
If anyone has either type maybe they could send some pictures and put them there as examples to show the differences between smaller and larger letters.
Trade only within the US.
then we can work out the necessary clear text for comment at the article.

For this coin there is never any doubt of which coin you have because the smaller/larger lettering never appears in the same year.
Why there are two year lines for 2014 is another question. Maybe it's a typing error and one line should be 2015 in stead of 2014?
If we take this position then we OBLIGATORY should delete the text
-smaller letters
-larger letters

It is not the point. It is obvious.

The question is still the same:
Who could explain the difference between coins when we use terms:

-smaller letters
-larger letters
-two lines
?

And who can explain, answering the second question, why the country issues coins in 2014 and do not use them, they are not legal tender in 2016, but it used the resources from 1980 as the real money?

It wasn't that difficult to google that

The older coins were demonetized in 1998: http://www.bsp.gov.ph/bspnotes/hist_dem_coin_abl.asp
The newer coins are still valid: http://www.bsp.gov.ph/bspnotes/curr_bsp_coins.asp

So the information in the catalog here is incorrect
Yes, the question is actually much deeper: can the referee arrange these inconstancies for ALL denominations and put the clear text about letters (or maybe it is a common mistake and someone name as letters the numerals) for this very article:

which letters (or numerals): all of them or just in some special places? Are they on obv., on rev. or both?

When the reader gets this informations, he/she will know about possibility of mules - it is one more reason to look at the coin attentively.

this would be good.

I just have 2 coins with "smaller letters".
The picture is not the best. I can make better pics, if necessary.

The Con Page shows a "larger letters" coin (2009)

Most probably these pictures work.

They show that:
instead of "smaller letters"
there should be "smaller script on both sides"

instead of "larger letters"
there should be "larger script on both sides"

In this way we will:
- achieve accuracy, for with one word "script" we cover "letters" and "numerals" and show precisely where they are;
- inspire the reader to check both sides just for opportunity to discover possible mules.

I reckon the inför small vs large letter in unnecessary, since there's no variety. I mean, no year has both, so why bother write it out? Put that in Comments instead, like Year Xx-Yy has small letters, and year Zz-Qq has large letters.
It could be correct statement as our friend Essor Prof on 26-Jan-2016, 06:59PM demanded without even looking at the coins!

Now we have the complete information. The case is about the scripts on both sides and not the size of some letters (as it was presented incorrectly). That is why this statement is not accurate. Anyway not in this case. Unfortunately.

Have a look. It is the side with 1993 that has changes. This side is everywhere through the whole emission. It means, that there is possibility to find mules. There are many examples of such mules in many countries' coinage. So let us permit the Numista community to have this chance for the discovery, describing the coin in the catalog article accurately.

I studied the pictures several times and did not see the difference.
Now, i think. I got it.

Can anybody, who has both varieties make a picture of this both together and make the differences clear visivle for blind guys like me?

If the difference is big enough, the coin-type might probably get sub-numbers in KM or an other catalogue.
We should keep giving such differences explanations in the coin sheets.
Smaller script: letters and numerals shorter and wider
Larger script: letters and numerals longer and narrower

Known combinations:
Smaller script -smaller script for early years
Larger script -larger script for later years.

NB. Other combinations could be discovered, especially for the years near the time of change.

Let's hope someone reports about a mule!
