Hey Ben,
Looks like a definite imitation, probably of Egyptian coins. The dotted background cannot be made by ancient coin designers.

For me it looks "belly money" which the oriental dancers put on there tight dresses to jingle with them by dancing.

Interesting. Left picture looks Aztec right enough, but the right picture looks Greek/Egyptian. The bent leg, similar to that found on Ancient greek Obols, the omega...wait..is that Ronga Ronga on there..no wait..Cretan Linear A..no wait cypro-minoan..err proto-elamite? Is it a temple token?..Heh, I don't have a clue. Fascinating!
