Despite I officially took back the control of the contest, the former organizer did not send all pics as promised. That's why I decided to take a 4-week pause to allow actual contesters to send me back their pics, like did Idolenz during the week. The contest will continue on May 7th.
PS: I'll be able to find any cheater trying to enter the contest after time, do not try anything.

If you have done it by PM than forwarding is unfortunately not possible.
But if you can find the PM again the best would be to re-send the name (123456789.jpg) or the link of the original size pictures.
I vote the whole thing gets cancelled. I had two excellent entries...I can't be bothered to resend. I propose we start again in September.
Just my thoughts. Run it your own way and have a think on how it can be done differently and better and if a certain somebody who is incredibly busy but happy to set up a competition that is going to fall on its backside, numerous money exchanges that haven't been paid and a couple of swaps that go "South": I'll be sure to put a stop on his account.
I take my hat off to you chomp-master for running it as long as you have piece meal. Take the summer off!
Would be nice, if the voting is a click on a radio button for one of the choices, instead of the current method of an endless thread of 'Replies' to vote for the better coin.. would require some programming though

Agreed. As the MPCC has a somewhat checkered reputation I'd be very tempted to start from scratch beginning with a new name and new rule set.
To avoid the fiasco of disappearing organizers it should be managed by several people rather than any one person. Set up, with managerial approval, an account used solely for the purpose to which the password is shared by each of the contest admins. All entries and correspondence should go to that address, that way we can avoid the nightmare of an absconding organizer taking all the entries with him.
The contest can be revived but only if people can be confident that it's a new venture with no ties to the previous failures and that dptashy will not be resurfacing at some point and assuming control (again). I think his reputation is now so toxic that most members, and especially donors, will withdraw if there is even a hint that he might somehow regain control.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Quote: "bam777"Agreed. I think just a poll vote would be better that you could all see go up.
In addition to creating a poll, you will also have to make sure people are not voting twice (French and English side)
A poll would be great, and much easier to manage.
To avoid doubling votes, it could just be posted on one side, while a link to it would be posted on the other side.
The only problem I can see with a poll is how would you be able to limit people to just one vote? At the moment you get to see who has voted and can easily pick up if they try to vote numerous times. You'd need to make sure that a poll set up would limit a member to one vote and they couldn't go in an put up 50 votes.

Wouldn't it be possible to have a poll where you only can vote once? I mean, if you vote for A and the you also vote for B, your vote will be replaced. This means that your vote for A will be moved to B. Yes, then you can vote as many times as you'd like, but your old vote will be removed and replaced by the new one. I reckon that would be the best solution.
Yes I understand that, but setting it up is the problem. You'd need to either get someone to code it for this site, or go through a third party site like survey monkey
I've been on a bulletin forums in the past where once you've voted every time you revisit the thread you no-longer have the option to vote but instead get too see the current polls !
What's going on here? Are we resetting? Carrying on? Scrapping it altogether?
I've already used the coin I donated for the competition in a trade. I can always get more coins, but what about the coins Dptashny submitted as prizes? I'm guessing that they will not materialise if the competition ever gets completed. Yet another reason why we should start afresh.
I can't quietly apply for a French CSI position...
I think I'll reset it finally. I won't be able to run the contest that way. I'll give more details dirung the weekend.

Hi,
As you are starting it all over again, are you considering changing the cathegories?
In my humble opinion it does not make much sense to make only a geographic distinction.
There should also be a historical disctinction.
Why keep Antic Roman and Greek coins with Hammered Medieval Pennies and modern Euros togeather while there is a distinction between Asia and Middle East or North and South America?
You're right. And I think there is no reason to keep the Arabic World as well. However we should determine which limit between oldies and modern ones. apuking, you were the former organizer, remember us which was your time limit for this split.

I had put antique and medieval coins together as there were not so many entries for this categories.
There is no exact date but rougly 1450 was the end of medieval times so I called the category:
Antique and medieval coins (before 1450)

Would you please update the following list of categories:
A: Europe - all countries on the European continent except Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Armenia (Asia), and Turkey/ Ottoman Empire (Middle East) and including Russia and Greenland
B: Asia - Central, Southern, and Northern, Eastern, and Southeastern Asia except Russia (Europe), Afghanistan and Iran (Middle East)
C. Africa - Western, Eastern, Southern, and Central Africa
D: Middle East - Arabic-speaking countries, Israel, Turkey, Afghanistan and Iran
E. US, Canada, and Atlantic Islands - United States, Canada, Caribbean islands (including Cuba), and British Overseas Territories in the Atlantic (including British Antarctic Territory)
F. Latin America - All non-island countries south of the US-Mexico border (including Mexico)
G. Australia and Pacific Islands - Australia, New Zealand, and small Pacific islands (except Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and the Philippines)
H. Exonumia - all tokens, medals, and other coin-like objects (except patterns, which are considered "coins" and put into the category their issuing country is in)
If something new is plannes and you want members to send you new entries for the competition, you should create a new post telling about all rules and information as well as the time members have to send their new entries.
Have a nice weekend
Paul

Sorry guys but so much things to do instead of announcing this. But my expectations remain a reset to begin in September or maybe October if needed. And as dptashny out, I'll have to call over new dotations.

Not sure if this is a good idea but I would like to make a donation to every coin that gets 0 votes.
The donation would be 1 lot of modern world coins, the number of coins would depend on how many get 0 votes for a coin.
This prize could help out a little our young or other new collectors.

Damn... Still unable to replace messages for now and will have to wait for August to do so. I would so postpone to November the restart.

I Have never participated in a MPCC, and wanted to for this one which was scheduled for January, but when it came around I was too busy. Since it looks like it is being rescheduled may I still participate? Also if possible is there a list of categories and rules somewhere I can check to make sure all coins applied meet the desired requirements. Thank you and I wanted to say although it seems like there has been a lot of problems with this event in particular in the past, hats off to the people who continue to organize it, keep up the good work.
To clear things up.
Mare we starting again as in new images or are you wanting new ones ?
And if you want new when should they be submitted by ?
Maybe a new thread would be helpful. I was really looking forward to this one but it's been such a let down ! Not your fault of course but I can't help but be disappointed :(
Please be patient again. After my move there were so much things to do. I've to solve my referee backlog, I'm also assisting in the deployment of German Notgelds, and some other IRL tasks. And to precise, this will be a new MPCC V, no MPCC VI yet.

Erf. Unfortunately I completely forgot the contest.
It would not occur before 2017.

Your team member duties have been expanded considerably since the departure of dptashy. Tackling German Notgeld on it's own is a mammoth task. Are you sure you want this headache on top of all the others? I'm sure you would do a great job given enough time but if you decide to hand this off to someone else nobody would blame you.

Chomp has already asked me to do some and has offered to do the translations etc for the French side. I'll get the details of how I intend to run it up in a couple of days and get feedback.

I look forward to the competition being run by you will be a nice change from the last debacle!
Hi, My question is for Neil. Will you be accepting new coins from people that didn't have the chance to enter this last mpcc attempt? If so will you be listing what the categories are please and an idea of when it might be taking place when you have some free available time. Thanks very much and grats on the mpcc opportunity .

Yes, I will have a complete re-boot. Since I don't have access to the pictures sent to Dptashny I'll need everyone to re-send. I'm about to have a new thread showing the rules and guidelines for the new competition.
Me neither I still do not have all access despite it was planned to be done.
